RAMALLAH, Sunday, February 27, 2022 (WAFA) – Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said today that 1,310 new cases of COVID-19, five deaths and 12,445 recoveries were registered in Palestine during the last 24 hours.
These latest figures indicate a continuing downward trend in the fifth wave in Palestine which was fueled by the highly contagious Omicron variant of COVID-19 in late December.
In her daily report on the coronavirus pandemic, Alkaila said three deaths from COVID-19 were registered in the West Bank, while another one death was recorded in Gaza. East Jerusalem also recorded only one death.
A total of 3,546 COVID-19 tests were conducted during the reporting period, with the exclusion of East Jerusalem. In the Gaza Strip, 328 coronavirus tests came out positive, while the West Bank had 262 new cases. East Jerusalem had 720 new cases.
The Health Minister said that in the West Bank, 175 patients of COVID-19 are currently hospitalized, of whom 87 are in intensive care, including 29 on ventilators.
She pointed out that the recovery rate in Palestine has so far reached 96.1 percent, while active cases declined to 3 percent. Deaths stood at 0.9 percent of total infections.
