Nihad Barghouti, 19, from the village of Kufr Ein, was transported to hospital in Ramallah in critical condition after he was shot in the belly.

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, February 16, 2022 (WAFA) – News about the Palestinian youth who was shot in the belly by Israeli soldiers during confrontations in the village of Nabi Saleh, northwest of Ramallah, and later died of his wounds, hit the front pages of the three Arabic Palestinian dailies on Wednesday.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida, al-Quds and al-Ayyam said that Nihad Barghouti, 19, from the village of Kufr Ein, was reported in critical condition after he was shot in the belly by Israeli soldiers during confrontations in the village, and died of the wounds he sustained.

Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh the killing Barghouti as "organized terrorism," as reported in al-Hayat al-Jadida.

The paper said that the Palestinian Foreign Ministry’s undersecretary, Amal Jado Shakaa, summoned the Hungarian ambassador accredited to the State of Palestine, Csaba Rada, to lodge an official complaint against the signing of a partnership agreement and activating a twinning agreement between the Hungarian city of Hafiz and the illegal Israeli settlements council, the Samaria Regional Council, in flagrant violation of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, specifically Security Council Resolution 2334 of 2016 on settlements, and in contradiction with the positions and policies of the European Union.

Tensions have been running high in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah as extreme right-wing Israelis led by lawmaker Itamar Ben Gvir set up an office there.

The dailies said that a total of 24 people have died of coronavirus in Palestine in the last 24 hours as 3648 new cases were confirmed.
