Weather: Rainy, very cold conditions as the low-pressure front continues to affect Palestine

RAMALLAH, Friday, January 28, 2022 (WAFA) – The low-pressure front that hit the region continues to affect Palestine today bringing rain with occasional thunderstorms and hail and very cold conditions despite a slight rise of temperature which nevertheless remains 8°C below the seasonal average, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Rain, thunderstorms, and hail are expected tonight in most districts of Palestine.

Winds are southwesterly to westerly, active, and sea waves are high.

Temperature in the capital, Jerusalem, and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 6°C and a low of 4°C and in Ramallah and Hebron a high of 5°C and a low of 3°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley temperature is expected to reach a high of 14°C and a low of 9°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 13°C and a low of 8°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

Saturday’s temperature is expected to further rise but remains 5°C below the seasonal average, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and cold conditions. Sporadic light rain showers are expected, with the chance of rainfall tapering off during the day.

Temperature is expected to further rise on Sunday and Monday but remains 3°C below the seasonal average with a slight chance of sporadic rainfall expected in some districts on Monday.

PMD warns people against floods in low areas, gusty wind, slippery roads, low horizontal visibility, as well as of frost formation in the morning hours.
