RAMALLAH, Tuesday, January 25, 2022 (WAFA) – Based on statistics and assessments of the epidemiological situation in Palestine, the current wave of Covid-19 pandemic is expected to reach a peak on February 6, today said Minister of Health Mai Alkaila.
She told Voice of Palestine radio that the epidemiological curve is going up and most cases are infected with the rapidly spreading Omicron variant.
Alkaila said that what is really worrying is the positive tests, which reached 26.6% in the West Bank and 35% in the Gaza Strip, noting that the number of Omicron cases in the West Bank amounted to 698 cases.
She said many people are coming to Covid-19 examination centers to be tested, which forced the ministry to extend the working hours of the centers until 6 pm, adding that the demand for vaccination is nevertheless slow despite the fact that the Ministry of Health has a sufficient number of vaccines.
