Weather: Clear skies, rise in temperature

RAMALLAH, Tuesday, January 25, 2022 (WAFA) – Clear and partially cloudy skies with very cold conditions, particularly in the mountainous areas, are expected today in Palestine as a low-pressure cold front is expected to affect the country tomorrow, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Temperature is expected to rise, becoming 4°C below the seasonal average.

Winds are southeasterly to southwesterly and moderate to active, while sea waves are low.

On Wednesday, a new low-pressure cold front is expected to enter the country bringing with it heavy rain, hail, thunderstorms, extremely cold conditions, and gusty winds. Snow is expected to fall on mountainous areas 800 meters above sea level. Temperature is expected to plummet to as low as 9°C below the seasonal average.

The low-pressure cold front is expected to continue to affect the country on Thursday, thus the weather is expected to be partially cloudy to cloudy and very cold. Temperature is expected to be 8°C below the seasonal average. Rain, hail, thunderstorms, extremely cold conditions, and gusty winds are expected with snow falling on mountainous areas 800 meters above sea level mainly in the morning hours.

No change in temperature or weather conditions is expected on Friday as the low pressure is expected to continue to affect the country.

PMD warns against strong winds, low visibility, slippery roads, formation of floods in low areas and frost in the early morning hours on Tuesday.
