RAMALLAH, Saturday, January 15, 2022 (WAFA) – Following discussion on social media regarding the fate of a cancer center project planned to be built near Ramallah and named Khaled Al-Hassan Cancer Center and Bone Marrow Transplant, the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) last night said that the financial donations collected to establish the center are available and kept in a bank account belonging to the Khaled Al-Hassan Foundation, but that they are not enough to start work on this project.

It said in a brief statement that the plans for the center have been done, with a capacity of 250 beds, and an estimated cost of $160 million.

"Due to the lack of funds necessary to start the project, it has been frozen at the present time as the ministry and government are working to provide financial support for the establishment of the center, and in stages, to serve the (cancer) patients," said the Health Ministry.

It said that treating cancer patients is a top priority in its plan to localize medical services in Palestine.
