RAMALLAH, Friday, January 14, 2022 (WAFA) – The tally of the COVID Omicron cases in Palestine has surged to 699 after 222 more cases were diagnosed in the recent few days, the Ministry of Health said today.
In a press statement, MoH spokesman Kamal Al-Shakhra said 222 more cases of the Omicron variant of COVID have been detected in the country, bringing up the tally to 699.
Al-Shakhra urged the public to get vaccinated or boosted as soon as possible to avoid the risk of hospitalization and serious illness in the event of infection.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that the Omicron variant was spreading significantly faster than the delta strain, with numbers of new cases fueled by the new variant skyrocketing across the globe.
Last week, the WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned against describing the Omicron variant as "mild" amid a "tsunami of cases" overwhelming health systems across the world.
