Palestine registers 176 COVID cases, seven deaths

RAMALLAH, Sunday, December 26, 2021 (WAFA) – Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said today that 176 new cases of COVID-19, seven deaths and 277 recoveries were registered in Palestine during the last 24 hours.

In her daily report on the coronavirus pandemic, Alkaila said three deaths from COVID-19 were registered in the West Bank, while another four deaths were recorded in Gaza.

A total of 3,814 COVID-19 tests were conducted during the reporting period. In the West Bank, 156 coronavirus tests came out positive, while the Gaza Strip had only 20 new cases.

The Health Minister said that in the West Bank, 103 patients of COVID-19 are currently hospitalized, of whom 54 are in intensive care, including 12 on ventilators.

She pointed out that the recovery rate in Palestine has so far reached 98.2 percent, while active cases reached 0.8 percent. Deaths stood at only one percent of total infections.

Concerning rollout of vaccines, the Health Minister said a total of 1,549,000 people have been fully vaccinated across Palestine, including 1,127,250 in the West Bank and 421,800 in Gaza.

In addition, said Alkiala, about 180,000 people have received booster shots.
