RAMALLAH, Sunday, April 25, 2021 (WAFA) – Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad Malki, and his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, today warned of serious consequences as a result of the recent developments in the occupied city of Jerusalem and stressed the need for Israel to stop all provocative measures and attacks by extremist Israelis that are pushing for a new wave of tension and violence.
The two officials stressed in a telephone call the need for immediate international action to oblige Israel, the occupying power, to stop extremist organizations and their racist movements in the old city of Jerusalem in order to end the violence and restore calm.
Malki and Safadi stressed the need for Israel to respect the sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan, stop all provocative steps in the holy places and lift all restrictions and measures that violate the right of Palestinians to practice their religious rights in the al-Aqsa Mosque.
They stressed the need for concerted efforts to create a real political horizon by returning to serious and effective negotiations to resolve the conflict on the basis of the two-state solution, which embodies the independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The two foreign ministers pointed out that the continued absence of a horizon for peace and the unilateral Israeli steps that undermine it as well as the provocative measures such as those taking place in the occupied city of Jerusalem threaten to ignite the conflict, which will make the entire region pay the price of its consequences.
