RAMALLAH, Wednesday, April 14, 2021 (WAFA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad Malki, today called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and all its member states to work together to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem against Israeli violations.

Malki called in a letter to the OIC Secretary-General, Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, and all member states to put pressure on the Israeli occupation authorities to stop their continuous aggression against Christian and Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem, foremost of which is al-Aqsa Mosque.

In his message, the foreign minister reviewed the latest developments related to the occupation measures against Al-Aqsa, especially during the holy fast month of Ramadan when on the first day of the month the Israeli forces seized the Iftar (end of fast) meals intended for the people who were fasting near the Mosque compound, smashed the door of a mosque in the area, and sabotaged the loudspeakers prevent the call for the evening prayer from Al-Aqsa Mosque’s minarets.

Malki stressed that Palestine will continue to coordinate its efforts with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and through its Secretary-General, and with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, to confront such Israeli incursion with the aim of providing the greatest degree of protection for the al-Aqsa Mosque.
