RAMALLAH, Tuesday, January 19, 2021 (WAFA) – Weather today in Palestine is partly cloudy as a very cold polar air affects the region bringing rain, thunderstorms and occasional hail first in the northern areas and then spreads to the rest of the country, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).
Winds are southwesterly to northwesterly, active and occasionally strong, and sea waves are high.
Temperature in the capital, Jerusalem, and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 10°C and a low of 5°C and in Ramallah and Hebron a high of 9°C and a low of 4°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley temperature is expected to reach a high of 19°C and a low of 10°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 15°C and a low of 9°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.
Temperature drops further tomorrow, Wednesday, as heavy rain, thunderstorms, and occasional hail are expected in all districts. Snow flurries are expected on high mountains until the afternoon and evening hours as the rainfall and the low pressure start to subside.
Clear skies are expected on Thursday with a slight rise in temperature but the cold conditions continue, mainly in the mountainous districts in Palestine.
Another rise in temperature is expected for Friday, said the PMD, which warned people against floods in valleys and low areas, strong winds, slippery roads and low horizontal visibility due to the heavy rain and fog, as well as frost and ice formation in the early morning hours of Thursday and Friday night.
