Armenians in Palestine mark Christmas with procession to the Nativity Church in Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, Monday, January 18, 2021 (WAFA) – The Armenian Orthodox Church in Palestine today marked Christmas in the Holy Land with the annual Christmas Eve procession of the patriarch from Jerusalem to Bethlehem.

Patriarch Nourhan Manougian arrived this morning in Bethlehem where he was received by Palestinian and city officials.

He is expected to lead tonight the midnight mass at the Nativity Church, which will be attended by the clergy and some officials without people due to the coronavirus restrictions.

The Armenian Church is the last to celebrate Christmas in the Holy Land. The Latin and Catholic churches marked Christmas on December 25, the Orthodox churches on January 7, and the Armenian Orthodox church s on January 19.
