Weather: Cold front affects country with a significant drop in temperature

RAMALLAH, Thursday, January 14, 2021 (WAFA) – A low-pressure cold front is expected to affect Palestine today causing temperature to plummet. Rain, occasionally heavy, and thunderstorms are expected in most districts, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Winds are southwesterly to westerly, active and occasionally strong. Sea waves are high.

Temperature in the capital, Jerusalem, and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 13°C and a low of 9°C and in Ramallah and Hebron a high of 12°C and a low of 8°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley temperature is expected to reach a high of 24°C and a low of 14°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 18°C and a low of 13°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

The cold front is expected to continue tomorrow, Friday, with a chance of rain expected in most areas of Palestine.

Saturday and Sunday’s weather continues to be cloudy, cold, and rainy. Occasional showers, which could be torrential, are expected in the north along with occasional thunderstorms, and will gradually spread to other districts in the night.

PMD warns people against floods in valleys and low areas, strong winds, slippery roads, and low horizontal visibility due to fog formation.
