The new governor of the Palestine Monetary Authority, Firas Milehm, sworn in

RAMALLAH, Monday, January 04, 2021 (WAFA) – Firas Milhem was sworn-in tonight via video conference in front of President Mahmoud Abbas as the new governor of the Palestine Monetary Authority (PMA), the Palestinian central bank.

He replaces Azzam Shawwa, who has served as governor of the PMA for the past five years.  Shawwa submitted his resignation to President Abbas on Sunday citing personal reasons.

Milhem had served as a member of the PMA's board of directors and was in charge of the Complaints Division of the PMA for four years.

Mohammad Manasra, who was named as deputy PMA governor on December 24, was also sworn-in tonight. He has been working with the PMA since 1998.
