RAMALLAH, Thursday, December 10, 2020 (WAFA) – The surge in the daily coronavirus numbers in Palestine, which some papers said was the highest so far, was highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.
Al-Ayyam said 23 people have died of coronavirus, 1883 new cases were recorded, which is the highest daily figure in Palestine so far.
It said the government announced that the corona vaccines will be in Palestine in the first months of next year.
The other two dailies, al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida also had the corona report at the top of their front page.
Al-Quds said four people have died in East Jerusalem of coronavirus and 294 new cases confirmed in two days.
It also quoted the Palestinian foreign ministry saying that two members of the Palestinian community in the United States have also died of coronavirus.
The three papers also reported on the corona toll in nearby countries.
Al-Ayyam said starting today, Israel demands that Palestinian workers entering Israel should do corona tests at the crossings.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said President Mahmoud Abbas has accepted the resignation of Hanan Ashrawi from the executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).
It also said member of Fatah Central Committee Jibril Rjoub has arrived in Iraq on an official visit. It said the Iraqi parliament passed a law giving Palestinians in Iraq equal status to Iraqi citizens.
Israeli measures in the occupied Palestinian territories were also highlighted on the front page of the dailies.
Al-Quds said Jewish fanatics plan to break into Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem during the Hanukah holiday in a provocative step.
It said many were injured in the Israeli army crackdown on protests in several areas of the West Bank and that demolition orders were issued against several homes in Masafer Yatta in the south of the West Bank.
It said residents of the occupied Syrian Golan Heights observed a general strike yesterday in protest against the installation of wind turbines on their lands.
It also said in a report from its Washington correspondent that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said that he is confident that Saudi Arabia is going to normalize relations with Israel.
Al-Ayyam said an Egyptian security delegation met Hamas leadership in Gaza and discussed intra-Palestinian reconciliation, calm on the borders with Israel, and the blockade.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Anti-Corruption Commission holds its second international conference with the participation of many countries.
