RAMALLAH, Thursday, December 10, 2020 (WAFA) - A total of 1,974 building licenses were issued in Palestine in the third quarter of 2020, which included 1,353 for new buildings, today said the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS).

The total number of building licenses issued in the third quarter of 2020 increased by 62% compared with the second quarter of 2020 and decreased by 10% compared with the third quarter of 2019, where the number of new building licenses increased by 66% compared with the second quarter of 2020 and decreased by 7% compared with the third quarter of 2019, it said.

The area of licensed buildings (residential and non-residential) totaled 822,000 square meters, of which new buildings made up 677,000 square meters and existing buildings comprised 145,000 square meters.

The total number of licensed dwellings was 3,614 with a total area of 596,000 square meters, of which 2,836 were new dwellings with a total area of 469,000 square meters and 778 were existing dwellings with a total area of 127,000 square meters.

The number of new dwellings in the third quarter of 2020 increased by 64% compared with the second quarter of 2020 and decreased by 12% compared with the third quarter of 2019.
