Four Palestinians detained from West Bank

RAMALLAH, Friday, December 4, 2020 (WAFA) – Israeli forces today detained four Palestinians, mostly during overnight raids, from various parts of the West Bank, according to local sources.

They confirmed that Israeli forces rounded up two Palestinian brothers as the latter attempted to cross al-Hamra military checkpoint in the Jordan Valley on their way back to their hometown. The detainees were identified as residents of Jaba‘ town, south of Jenin.

Soldiers detained another Palestinians after ransacking his apartment in Nablus city.

Meanwhile, Israeli police rounded up another after stopping him at Bab Hutta, one of the gates leading to Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, following the Friday prayers.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
