RAMALLAH, Tuesday, October 20, 2020 (WAFA) – The condition of Saeb Erekat, secretary-general of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, is stable, tonight said his daughter Salam Erekat.

"My father is still in the intensive care unit.  His condition is stable with ventilator support," she told Palestine TV. "Today, he was connected to the ECMO machine to support the lung and prevent its damage as a result of the coronavirus."

She said his doctors in the United States who gave him the lung transplant in 2017 and who have been following his case are being consulted regarding her father's situation, explaining that he is now responding to the ECMO machine.

"God willing his condition will improve," she said.

Erekat, 65, was admitted to Hadassah Hospital in West Jerusalem on Sunday suffering from serious complications after contracting the coronavirus the week before. His condition was described as critical.
