Palestine records 426 new coronavirus cases, eight fatalities

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, September 30, 2020 (WAFA) – Palestine recorded today 426 new novel coronavirus cases and eight fatalities in Palestine, according to Health Minister Mai Alkaila.

She said in a press statement that 321 Palestinians in the West Bank have tested positive for the disease and five fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours, in addition to 37 new cases in the Gaza Strip, while 68 people were confirmed with the corona disease in East Jerusalem over the past two days and three deaths.

As part of the 358 new cases, 73 were confirmed in Hebron district, 35 in Nablus, 46 in Bethlehem, nine in Qalqilia, 34 in Ramallah and al-Bireh, 35 in Jenin, four in Salfit, 22 in Jericho and the Jordan Valley, 39 in Tulkarem, seven in Tubas,  all in the West Bank.

She identified five of the eight fatalities as a 61-year-old man from Ash-Shuyukh town, northeast of Hebron, an 88-year-old man from Hebron city, a 54-year-old woman from Bethlehem, a 77-year-old woman from Qalqilia besides to a 78-year-old man from Ramallah. The remaining three were from East Jerusalem.

Alkaila added that 696 COVID-19 patients have recovered in the occupied territories, including 319 recovery cases in Jerusalem in the last two days.

According to Health Minister, there are 39 COVID-19 patients who are still receiving urgent treatment at intensive care units, including 14 who are still connected to respirators.

According to the latest statistics, recovery cases account for 81.6 percent of total cases, active cases 17.7 percent, and the death toll accounts for 0.7 percent of total cases.
