Weather forecast: Slight relief expected in heat stress

RAMALLAH, Tuesday, September 29, 2020 (WAFA) – The heavy heat stress is set to slightly abate today, causing temperature to drop and approach 4°C, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Relatively hot to hot conditions are expected in daytime and mild to relatively hot conditions in nighttime. Light to moderate northwesterly wind blows with occasional gusts. Sea waves are low.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 32°C and a low of 22°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 31°C and a low of 21°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley temperature is expected to reach a high of 43°C and a low of 27°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 32°C and a low of 25°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

Wednesday’s temperature is set to further slightly drop and approach 3°C, causing a further slight relief in the heat stress.

A further drop is expected in temperature on Thursday, paving the way to further relief in the heat stress. A slight chance of scattered drizzle is expected on some areas.

Friday’s temperature is set to further drop, paving the way to partly cloudy and mild conditions in mountains and relatively hot conditions in other districts in daytime. Slightly cold to relatively mild conditions are expected in nighttime.

People are warned against prolonged direct exposure to sunlight, especially during the peak hours of the day between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm, as well as against setting fire to dry grassy areas.
