RAMALLAH, Monday, September 28, 2020 (WAFA) – Weather today is very hot and dry in daytime as the heat wave continues to affect the region, causing a significant rise in temperature that approaches 6°C above the seasonal average, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).
Weather tonight is mild in mountainous districts and relatively hot in other districts. Light to moderate northwesterly to northeasterly wind blows with occasional gusts. Sea waves are low to medium.
Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 34°C and a low of 21°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 33°C and a low of 20°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley temperature is expected to reach a high of 44°C and a low of 27°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 35°C and a low of 25°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.
Tuesday’s temperature is expected to slightly drop and approach 4°C, yet unseasonably hot to very hot conditions continue to prevail in daytime and relatively hot conditions in nighttime.
Wednesday’s temperature is set to further slightly drop and approach 3°C, causing a slight relief in the heat stress.
A further drop is expected in temperature on Thursday, paving the way to further relief in the heat stress. A slight chance of scattered drizzle is expected on some areas.
People are warned against prolonged direct exposure to sunlight, especially during the peak hours of the day between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm, as well as against setting fire to dry grassy areas.
