RAMALLAH, Sunday, September 27, 2020 (WAFA) – Ministry of Health spokesman Kamal Shakhra said today that the current amount of coronavirus testing swabs are only sufficient for the next upcoming ten days only.
He said during an interview with the official Voice of Palestine radio that a new set of testing swabs is expected to arrive in Palestine either today evening or tomorrow in order for medical teams to continue performing the test.
Shakhra added that due to the shortage in testing specimens and swabs, tests were only conducted over the past few days to those with apparent symptoms.
He blamed the Israeli occupation authorities and the current international movement complicationsfor the severe shortage in swabs .
In the meantime, Fathi Abu Warda, an advisor to the Minister of Health in the Gaza Strip, said today that the coronavirus situation in the Gaza Strip is unstable due to the high due to the high population density of 5,000 people per square kilometre, coupled by a shortage of testing swabs.
He pointed out that the northern Gaza Strip and Gaza City have recorded the highest number of infections.
