Weather: Heat stress affects the country

RAMALLAH, Sunday, September 27, 2020 (WAFA) – A heat stress is expected to affect Palestine and the rest of the region today resulting in a significant rise in temperature that approaches 3°C above the seasonal average, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department.

Winds are northwesterly to northeasterly, light to moderate and occasionally gusty. Sea waves are low to medium and occasionally active.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 31°C and a low of 22°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 30°C and a low of 21°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley temperature is expected to reach a high of 42°C and a low of 28°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 32°C and a low of 25°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

Another sharp rise in temperature is expected for Monday to approach 7°C above the average. Therefore, weather is likely to be very hot.

However, a slight drop in temperature is expected for Tuesday, which nevertheless remains above seasonal average by 5°C.

Temperature drops further on Wednesday but remains above the seasonal average by 3°C.

People are warned against prolonged direct exposure to sunlight especially during the peak hours of the day between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm.
