RAMALLAH, Thursday, September 24, 2020 (WAFA) – Israeli measures in the occupied Palestinian territories were highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said that Israel decided to take over 17 sites in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, in addition to the demolition of an events hall in Tulkarm, razing of agricultural land and demolition orders of a building and two houses in Wadi al-Humous near Jerusalem.
The third daily, al-Hayat al-Jadida highlighted as its main front-page stories the telephone call between President Mahmoud Abbas and his German counterpart as well as the speeches of the world leaders at the virtual session of the United Nations General Assembly in which they stressed the Palestinian rights.
It said Jordan is going to host today a meeting for the foreign ministers of Jordan, Egypt, France, and Germany and the European Union representative to discuss the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians. It said this is the third meeting after the first one was held in February and the second in July of this year.
Coronavirus toll was also highlighted on the front page of the three dailies and said that three people have died and 503 new cases were confirmed in Palestine yesterday.
Al-Quds said two schools were also closed in Bethlehem after corona cases were recorded there as well as courts in Nablus.
It said three deaths and 205 cases were recorded in occupied East Jerusalem and one death and four new cases reported among Palestinians in the diaspora.
It also said that Israel is going to a total lockdown starting tomorrow and for two weeks to contain the disease.
It said Fatah and Hamas are holding talks in Turkey on reconciliation.
Al-Ayyam said the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is moving fast toward normalization with Israel with more companies on both sides reaching deals between them.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said Emirati companies are making deals with Israelis who support settlements and are on the United Nations blacklist.
It said, quoting the US ambassador to Israel, that the UAE is not going to get the American F35 jet fighters before seven years and that the annexation of occupied land is not canceled.
