CAIRO, July 10, 2012 (WAFA) - The Arab League Secretary General, Nabil al-Arabi, and the Arab League's head of Palestine affairs, Mohammad Sbaih, Tuesday in a joint statement, called on the Arab nation to fulfill their financial commitments to the Palestinian Authority (PA).
In a joint press conference held at the Arab League Headquarters in Cairo, they said the PA’s financial situation is “stifling and disturbing,” calling on the Arab countries to fulfill their obligations to end the PA’s financial crisis.
Al-Arabi said, “We remind all the Arab countries of prior summits and decisions to create a safety net for the PA. Therefore, all Arab Countries are urged to uphold their financial obligations toward the PA.”
Sbaih affirmed the PA’s difficult financial situation; it was not able to pay the employees’ salaries for the month of June.
