JERUSALEM, September 21, 2011 (WAFA) – The Popular National Conference for Jerusalem, in a statement Wednesday, called for the formation of defense committees against Jewish settlers' attacks targeting Arab neighborhoods in East Jerusalem, in retaliation to the Palestinian plan to request full United Nations membership of a Palestinian state within 1967 borders this Friday.

The Conference called the Palestinians to participate in the mass activities in support of the Palestinian bid and against the Israeli occupation measures, mainly the settlers' organized attacks.

'There is no Palestinian house in and around Jerusalem that has not suffered due to the occupation’s racist policies,' the statement said.

Jewish settlers have been leading a violent campaign against the Palestinians in Jerusalem and the West Bank, in an attempt to draw the Palestinians into a twirl of violence that would thwart the Palestinian bid to the UN.
