JERICHO, August 9, 2011 (WAFA) - PLO Executive Committee Member, Saeb Erekat, Tuesday denied news on Palestinian deferment of the plan to gain United Nations full membership and recognition of a Palestinian state within 1967 borders in September.
Erekat, following individual meetings with the US and Spanish General Consuls, reiterated his denial of US offers or talks with US administration on formulas to resume negotiations, and indicated that the Palestinian bid to gain UN recognition does not contradict peace negotiations.
Erekat called on European Union state members and the US Administration to oblige the Israeli government to halt all settlement activities in the Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and to accept the two-state principle based on 1967 borders to resume the peace process.
