RAMALLAH, May 19, 2010 (WAFA)- The Palestinian side, submitted to the American side, during a meeting between President Mahmoud Abbas, the U.S. envoy to the peace process, Senator George Mitchell, today, messages related to the overall situation occurring on the ground, especially Israeli violations.
Head of the Negotiations Affairs Department of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Dr. Saeb Erekat, told a news conference, 'The messages are delivered to the American side, referring to the provocative acts committed by Israel, such as killing a Palestinian boy, 16, and an unarmed citizen in the Gaza Strip, in addition to provocative statements and other attacks and arrests'.
He added: 'We hope the U.S. side would oblige the Israeli side to desist from provocative actions of incursions, arrests and settlement and the imposition of facts on the ground, or very dangerous statements that we observed last week by more than one Israeli official'.
Erekat stressed keenness of the President and the Palestinian leadership to the success of the efforts of the American envoy, and focus on final status issues, especially the issues of borders, security and access to the two-state solution on the border of the fourth of June 1967.
Erekat said 'We hope to take advantage of every moment in the four months leading to the identification of the two-states’ borders of the fourth of June 1967'.
He concluded by saying, 'We will continue our discussions with Senator Mitchell, and we will make every possible effort to ensure the success of this task'
