JERUSALEM, May 13, 2010 (WAFA)- 20 tons of cement and 8 tons of steel bars, needed for the works of the project of rehabilitation of the Al Quds hospital in Gaza financed by France, entered Gaza on Thursday 13th May through the Kerem Shalom crossing point, the French Consulate General in Jerusalem said in a press release.
This first crossing of materials confirms the assurances previously received by France from the Israeli government for facilitating the access of materials into Gaza for this important project, which aims to restore the capacity of the emergency department of the hospital and to contribute to the improvement of the general capacity of the health services in the Gaza strip, under the responsibility of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society.
Four other shipments of materials, i.e. a total of about 50 trucks, are expected to enter Gaza for this project during the next two months. The next one is expected to cross through the Karni crossing point on Monday 17th May. The works should last three months.
