RAMALLAH, May 11, 2010 ( WAFA)- The French Consul General in Jerusalem, Frédéric Desagneaux, handed over a check of 15000 Euros, to the Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations Network (PNGO), at the head quarters of the organization in Ramallah, in presence of a number of its members.
This sum is the endowment of the French Republic Human Rights Prize awarded by the National French Consultative Commission for Human Rights and handed over to PNGO by the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Bernard Kouchner, during a ceremony organized in Paris for the 61st anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
This endowment will allow financing of the project entitled “the national campaign for the defense of civil liberties and Human Rights and for the restoration of the national unity in Palestine”, a project that aims at reconstructing the Palestinian national unity by widening the space of expression in the civil society.
PNGO, created in September 1993 following the signature of the Oslo agreement, is a network of Palestinian NGOs based in Jerusalem, West Bank and Gaza, and that works towards supporting the Palestinian civil society based on Democracy, social justice, and sustainable development.
