Diliani: OECD Decision on Israel Harms Peace Efforts

JERUSALEM, May 10, 2010 (WAFA)- Fateh's Revolutionary Council member, Dimitri Diliani, said today that OECD's decision to accept Israel’s membership harms political efforts aimed at making peace and stability in the Middle East.

OECD today, Diliani added, provided the right wing extremist government of Israel a boost that irritates international political pressures on Israel to halt its illegal and inhumane military occupation of the Palestinian people in the territory it had occupied in 1967.

Diliani pointed that Israel does not make a distinction between economic activities in illegal colonial settlements in the West Bank including occupied East Jerusalem and economic establishments elsewhere, which makes dividends of its membership of the OECD applicable to the development of such illegal colonial entities in a clear defiance of the International law and political will.

Diliani stressed that OECD's decision violates its own bylaws which require that members must practice democracy and respect human rights, while the Israeli military occupation contradicts such a requirement.
