Europe Celebrates its Day in Palestine

RAMALLAH, May 10, 2010 (WAFA) - Europe celebrated, Sunday, in Palestine the  60th anniversary of Europe day, commemorating the famous declaration by French Foreign Minister Robert Schumann in 1950, that led to the creation of what is now the European Union.

 

The birth of the European Market that time was to improve the life of the Europeans. What living Europe can bring to civilization is indispensable to the maintenance of peaceful relations. Six countries united that time for economic development as a first step in the federation of Europe: France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Italy.

 

The EU representative to the PA Christian Berger said, “the achievements we had in Palestine let us celebrate our day with the Palestinian people.”

 

“We have an exhibition of EU projects in Palestine. We are involved in EUPOL, which maintains the law in the West Bank; it is one of the most important projects that the Palestinians can see us in. We have also the olive oil exporting project, which aims to increase competitive marketing abilities for Palestinian olive oil, Atfalona  (our children) handicrafts done by deaf children from Gaza, beside  mosaic corner, and Al-Kamandjati music corner.”
