EU Calls upon Parties in M.E. to Avoid provocation

BRUSSELS, April 28, 2010 (WAFA)- The European Union called upon all parties in the Middle East to avoid any provocation and move towards lasting peace.

The EU's foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said Tuesday that EU is concerned by the public statements that have been exchanged recently between various parties to the Arab-Israeli conflict in the Middle East.

Such developments go against the efforts of the EU and its key partners, who are working constantly to address the problems that are hampering the Peace Process.

The EU has on several occasions reiterated its concern about the lack of progress in the Middle East Peace Process and has called for the urgent resumption of negotiations that will lead, within an agreed time-frame as specified by the Quartet, to the two-state solution.
