AMMAN, April 10, 2010 (WAFA)- Minister of Local Government, Khaled Qawasmeh discussed on Saturday with Jordanian Minister of Municipal Affairs Ali Al Ghzawi scopes of cooperation, as well as exchanging expertise in the municipal sector.
Ghzawi said that his ministry is working on some plans and programs to build institutional capacity for municipalities and enhance the role of civil society by co-working with municipalities in implementing and managing investment and developmental projects.
He added that the ministry is fully prepared to provide expertise, technical and human support to Palestinian municipalities.
Qawasmeh commended the progress of municipalities in Jordan, saying that the joint action between the two ministries will help Palestinian side benefit from the Jordanian expertise in organizing municipal elections, achieving development planning and cities and urban development.
They also discussed a proposal to set up a Council of Ministers of Municipalities in Arab states, under the umbrella of the League of Arab States.
