Israeli Develops New Military Tank (Phoenix)

TEL AVIV, August 30, 2009 (WAFA) - Israeli newspaper 'Maariv' reported that the logistics corps in the Israeli army is currently working on the development of an unmanned remote controlled military vehicle.

According to the paper, the tank has a high-level protection and is able to move in very rough terrain, both in the day and night.

The tank (Phoenix) has eight wheels and is able to move in the pivots exposed to fire.

Maariv said the tank has modern equipment and will carry large amounts of ammunition. It will be used to carry ammunition to units operating in combat, without the need to endanger life. The paper added that it will be remotely controlled in a variety of military tasks.

The Israeli army had secretly developed, since the beginning of this decade, unmanned bulldozers after the order of the Corps of Engineers in the army, called (Black Thunder).
