Quartet Demands International Community to Support Peace Process

 

 

SHARM AL-SHEIKH, November 9, 2008, (WAFA)- The Quartet called upon Israel to freeze colonial activities and demanded the international community to facilitate the conditions for comprehensive peace in the Middle East.

 

In a press conference held Sunday, after the Quartet meeting in Sharm Al-Sheikh, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon expressed the Quartet’s interest in Palestinian Israeli efforts aimed at achieving peace through pursuing the peace process.

 

Ban demanded the international community to provide political support for the peace process, and to respect the principles agreed upon in Annapolis Conference held on November 2007.

 

The Quartet affirmed its commitment to working with the Israelis and the Palestinians to facilitate the movement of the Palestinian people.

 

US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice affirmed that there is a real strategy to end the conflict and to reach the two-state solution.
