CAIRO, April 12, 2026 (WAFA) – Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Yamahi is leading a broad and urgent international campaign at various parliamentary, human rights, and international levels to confront the so-called “Execution Law for Palestinian Prisoners” passed by the Israeli Knesset.
Al-Yamahi emphasized that this racist legislation represents the most dangerous form of legitimizing systematic political killings of the Palestinian people, and a fully-fledged legislative crime that undermines the principles of international law and threatens the global justice system.
He sent a series of urgent official letters to the UN Secretary-General, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, and the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, as well as to the heads of regional and international parliaments.
In his letters, Al-Yamahi called for immediate action to halt the implementation of this criminal law and hold those responsible accountable before international justice. He emphasized that the enactment of this law represents an unprecedented escalation in the occupation's repressive policies and officially establishes a new phase of systematic execution of prisoners under a false legal guise. This constitutes a flagrant violation of the Geneva Conventions, international humanitarian law, and all relevant international human rights conventions.
He warned that any international silence or inaction regarding this law would constitute direct complicity in a fully-fledged crime and would grant the occupation political cover to continue its crimes. It would also open the door to a dangerous collapse of the international legal system and entrench a policy of impunity.
He further called on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and take urgent measures, including activating international accountability mechanisms, referring this crime to the competent judicial authorities, providing immediate international protection for Palestinian prisoners, and forming independent fact-finding committees to investigate the grave crimes and violations committed against them in the occupation's prisons.
Al-Yamahi reiterated his demand to withdraw and freeze the membership of the Israeli occupation “Knesset” from the Inter-Parliamentary Union and all international parliamentary forums, stressing that the Arab Parliament will continue its political, diplomatic and parliamentary actions until this racist law is overturned and the occupation is held accountable for its escalating crimes against prisoners.
