In Paris, Abbas Calls on Olmert Accelerate Negotiations

RAMALLAH, July 13, 2008, (WAFA)- President Abbas spokesman Nabil Abu Rdeinh said late on Saturday that Abbas is to ask the Israeli Premier Ehud Olmert 'accelerates' the peace negotiations, during their meeting Sunday in Paris.
 

He added that Abbas and Olmert are to tackle  the process of the negotiations as well as the necessity of accelerating the whole process as they are running out of time. Abbas is to demand for a more serious Israeli stance concerning most of the stuck issues, mostly the settlement and the way to stop it in accordance with international summit of Annapolis and the peace plan Road Map.''The lull issue in Gaza Strip is to be tackled as well in the meeting', Abu Rdeinh made clear.

 

Believing in the US role, he stressed that a big gap still exists, no file has been fully discussed. There has to be additional US and international efforts to be exerted so that chaos and miss no longer spread in the region.

 

Worthily saying that Abbas and Olmert are to meet early today in the Elysee in attendance with French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

 
Head of Palestinian negotiators Ahmed Qurea and Saeb Erikat, who accompany Abbas in his visit to Paris, are scheduled to head Tuesday to Washington so as to have talks with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
