RAMALLAH, June 26, 2008, (WAFA)-Presidency Spokesperson said that President Mahmoud Abbas reiterated on Thursday the Palestinian National Authority's support for the calm agreement in the Gaza Strip, which was reached by Egypt's effort.
President affirmed that the preservation of calm serves the interests of the Palestinian people and provide suitable conditions for lifting the blockade on the Gaza Strip and stop the Israeli aggression, including the opening of crossing points so as our people in the Gaza Strip could able to practice normal life.
President also welcomes and supports the efforts of all factions and forces to strengthen the truce and withdraw pretexts from the Israeli side to continue the siege and aggression, confirming that calm ,lifting the siege and opening the crossings are proper entrance to the success of national dialogue and detente at the domestic level to promote national cohesion among the factions and forces as well as our people to restore their land and the establishment of their independent state, with Jerusalem as its capital.
