In a press release on The Jerusalem Statistical Yearbook (No. 10) Wednesday, PCBS added that the average household size in Jerusalem Governorate was 5.2 persons, in compare with 5.8 persons in the Palestinian Territory.
It said that average number of rooms in Jerusalem governorate is 3.3 rooms for the year 2007(3.1 rooms in J1 Area and 3.8 rooms in J2 Area) the average housing density reached 1.6 persons per room and 14.9% of the households live in housing units with less than one person per room, 46.6% with one person to less than two persons, while 38.5% of the households live in housing units with two persons and more per room.
According to ILO Standards, the labor force participation rate for persons aged 15 years and over in Jerusalem governorate was 39.4% in 2007; 65.8% for males and 13.6% for females, Unemployment rate in Jerusalem Governorate for persons aged 15 years and over was 13.4%, 67.4% of the Employed persons from Jerusalem Governorate are working in the Palestinian Territory and 32.6% in Israel and Settlements.
PCBS revealed that the preliminary results of (Population, Housing and Establishment 2007) in the Palestinian Territory showed that the total number of establishment in Jerusalem Governorate (J2) was 4,128 establishment, while the number of economic establishment for 2006 in (J1) was 2,503. And the GDP for 2002 in Jerusalem Governorate Area (J1) was US$ 330.4 million, compared to 337.2 million in 2001.
It revealed that the total number of hotels in Jerusalem Governorate for 2007 was 25, with 1,249 rooms and 2,831 beds .The room occupancy rate was 45.5% and the bed occupancy rate was 38.1%.
As For the scholastic year 2007/2008, PCBS said that the total number of schools (except kindergartens and schools supervised by Israeli Municipality and Culture committee) was 194 schools, the number of pupils/students was 62,274, and the number of classes was 2,327.
PCBS said that the percentage of covered population in health insurance in Jerusalem Governorate in the year 2005 was 90.2%, (98.0% in J1 Area and 77.1% in J2 Area). The percentage of smoking among persons aged 12 years and over in the year 2006 was 22.1%, of (21.8% in J1 Area and 22.7% in J2 Area).
PCBS added that In the year 2005, solid waste was collected daily in 13 localities and more than once a week in 13 localities, the disposal of solid waste in 13 localities is treated by burning, 8 localities treat it by burying and 8 localities by burning and burying, and only 9 localities have sewage system network.
It said that the number of Jerusalemite confiscated identity cards was 8,269 I.D cards during the period 1967-2006, of which 1,363 in the year 2006. The number of demolished houses in Jerusalem Governorate in J1 Area was 57 houses, in the year 2007, and as a result of the expansion and annexation wall in Jerusalem governorate; 1,635 households were displaced totals about 9,609 persons. In addition, 11,100 dunums were confiscated in the year 2005.
PCBS pointed out that the number of Al-Aqsa Intifada Martyrs was 5,084 persons until 31/12/2007, of which 77 Martyrs from Jerusalem governorate and the number of Injuries in the Palestinian Territory was 31,873 persons; of which 25.9 % of injuries was caused by live ammunition, 22.6% by rubber bullets, 21.2% by gas, and 30.3% by other causes which includes beating and torture.
