Gulf Diplomats Hope Arab Summit Meets Arabs' Ambitions
RIYADH, March 24, 2007 (WAFA) -- Two Arab Gulf ambassadors hoped Saturday the upcoming Arab summit, slated for March 28 in Riyadh, would meet aspirations of the Arab people.
The two-day Arab summit will be held in "very important" circumstances in the Arab and Islamic worlds, and was taking place at a time that requires urgent inter-Arab coordination to face numerous challenges, Saeed Al-Dhaheri, ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Saudi Arabia, said.
Speaking to Kuwait news agency (KUNA), Al-Dhaheri said issues on the agenda of the Arab leaders needed objective and transparent discussions.
He hoped the 19th Arab summit would have fruitful outcome that would tackle Arab and Islamic causes.
Omani Ambassador in Riyadh Saeed Al-Kalbani said the summit would be held in "sensitive and crucial" turning point which required joint action in order to have decisive resolutions.
The Arab region is witnessing big challenges, he said, citing the developments in Iraq, the political crisis in Lebanon, the situation in occupied Palestinian territories and the Middle East peace process in general.
The Omani ambassador commended King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia for his relentless support for the service of Arab and Islamic causes.
