Arab Quartet to Inform Rice of Insistence on Arab Initiative
CAIRO, March 23, 2007 (WAFA) -- The foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and UAE will insist on the Arab peace initiative when they meet with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in Aswan, Egypt, on Saturday, an Arab diplomatic source was quoted by Egypt's state-owned Middle East News Agency (MENA) as saying here Friday.
During the meeting, both sides will share views on several regional issues, chiefly the Arab peace initiative, the source said.
Following the Aswan meeting, there will be another meeting between the four Arab foreign ministers and the Quartet, an international Middle East peace-seeking group made up of the UN, US, EU and Russia.
The forthcoming Arab summit in Riyadh on March 28-29 is expected to be briefed on the outcomes of the Aswan meeting between the four Arab foreign ministers and the US secretary of state, the source added.
