KHANYUNIS, May 6, 2004, (WAFA) – Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) detained Thursday hundred of civilians in their cars at Israeli military checkpoints of al-Matahen and Abu Houli near Khanyounis City, witnesses said.... They told WAFA that thousands of civilians, including patients, employees and students were disallowed from going to work, schools and Hospitals.... Local residents said that the IOF troops tightened military restrictions at the checkpoints, denying the civilians’ access from-into the city.... Abdel Latef Mteir, a taxi driver, said that the checkpoints became a daily scene of humiliation and torture.... He added that he was detained yesterday from dawn till afternoon. They were denied access to their destination.... Earlier, IOF blocked Salah al-Deen Street that links Gaza Strip's southern parts with its northern ones...
