Al Fakhoora Launches 'Right to Education' Campaign in Palestine

DOHA, July 14,  2010 (WAFA) -- Al Fakhoora international campaign, which aims at supporting the rights of the Palestinian students, has launched a two-year partnership project with the Palestinian university of Birzeit (BZU), in a bid to improve and provide basic educational rights in the Palestinian territories.

This partnership came out with the idea of the two-day Right to Education International Student Conference due to convene in Ramallah on July 27, according to Qatar News Agency.

Students attending the conference will get to share knowledge and experiences based on their work to support the rights of Palestinian students and will develop a strategy that meets the needs of different campuses while adhering to a shared framework.

Attendees will build on progress made at past student conferences including the Hampshire BDS conference in the U.S. (November 2009) and the Al Fakhoora International Student Conference in Doha (January 2010).

Al Fakhoora campaign was established under the patronage of Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al Missned in order to secure the freedom to learn for Palestinian students in Gaza and the West Bank.

Al Fakhoora is providing financial support to students who wish to attend university. To date, it has already distributed 100 scholarships to young scholars in need to cover their cost of education including tuition all through their undergraduate years.
