QALQILIA, January 5, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli soldiers Friday suppressed Kafr Qaddum’s non-violent protest that takes place every Friday to condemn Israel’s settlement expansion and call for opening the village’s road.
Murad Shteiwi, coordinator of local resistance in Kafr Qaddum told WAFA that the village’s residents joined the march despite bad weather conditions and headed towards the illegal settlement of Kedumim, which was built on the village’s land, to protest the closure of the road to serve the settlers for 14 years now.
Israeli soldiers fired tear canisters and sound bombs at the protesters, but no injuries were reported.
Shteiwi said organizing the protest despite the rain and windy weather is a message from Palestinians that we will continue to protest non-violently until we end the Israeli occupation of our land and establish our independent state of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital.
