RAMALLAH, Wednesday, June 17, 2020 (WAFA) – After weeks of a slowdown in the number of new coronavirus cases in Palestine, the Minister of Health said today that the situation was back to double-digit with 18 new cases recorded since the morning.
Health Minister Mai Alkaila said 17 new cases were recorded this afternoon in the southern West Bank city of Hebron and nearby Tafooh of people who had tested positive after they were in contact with infected patients.
The 18th case was for a man in Ramallah reported earlier this morning who got the infection from his father who lives in Hebron.
With the new cases, the number of coronavirus cases in Palestine, which includes East Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, has reached 718, of whom 460 are in the West Bank, 72 in the Gaza Strip and 186 in East Jerusalem.
A total of 570 have recovered in Palestine, including 373 in the West Bank, where two patients have died, 42 in the Gaza Strip where one patient has died, and 155 in East Jerusalem where two have died of coronavirus.
