GAZA, May 11, 2025 (WAFA) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has warned of the dire humanitarian consequences resulting from the continued Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip, now entering its ninth consecutive week.
In a statement published today on X, UNRWA said it has thousands of aid trucks ready to enter Gaza, and its teams on the ground are fully prepared to scale up humanitarian operations.
However, the agency stressed that Israel has been preventing the entry of all humanitarian, medical, and commercial supplies into Gaza for over nine weeks, worsening the already catastrophic conditions for countless civilians.
Meanwhile, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) issued a statement on Saturday confirming that Palestinians are dying in Gaza, which has been under a complete Israeli siege for the third consecutive month, as part of the ongoing genocide that has been going on for over a year and a half.
OCHA revealed that 70% of Palestinians in Gaza are either located in areas where Israeli forces are present, under evacuation orders, or both. It reiterated that the United Nations and its partners are fully prepared to scale up aid delivery as soon as the Israeli blockade, imposed since March 2, is lifted.
Describing the current reality, OCHA bluntly stated: “Palestinians are dying under a full Israeli siege for the third consecutive month.”
Last week, Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa declared the Gaza Strip a famine zone, placing full responsibility on the Israeli occupation for the deliberate and manmade humanitarian catastrophe.
