UPDATE: Seventeen Palestinians detained from West Bank

JENIN, Thursday, June 27, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Thursday conducted multiple overnight raids across the West Bank and detained at least 17 Palestinians, said the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

PPS confirmed that Israeli forces detained five Palestinians from the northern West Bank district of Jenin.

Three of the detainees were identified as residents of Jenin refugee camp and another as a resident of Silat al-Harithiya town, west of Jenin.

Meanwhile, PPS said that Israeli forces rounded up six Palestinians from the central West Bank district of Ramallah and al-Bireh.

At least two of the detainees were identified as residents of Kobar town, northwest of Ramallah.

In the northern West Bank, PPS confirmed multiple military raids in Nablus district, resulting in the detention of two Palestinians.

Two others were rounded up in a similar predawn military raid in the northern West Bank district of Tubas.

In Jerusalem, PPS said that Israeli police rounded up two Palestinians from al-Issawiya neighborhood.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
