RAMALLAH, Friday, March 29, 2019 (WAFA) – The Egyptian security delegation’s visit aimed to defuse tensions in Gaza dominated the front page headlines in Friday’s issue of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies.
Al-Quds reported that the Egyptian delegation held shuttle talks with the Palestinian factions and Israel to consolidate calm.
Al-Ayyam added in this regard that the Egyptian security delegation concluded meetings with the Palestinian factions in Gaza amidst news indicating that Israel has agreed on the majority of demands presented by the Palestinian factions.
It added that the delegation presented the Palestinian factions with Israel’s proposal to restore calm, which includes “facilities” in exchange for halting the launch of incendiary balloons towards Israel.
Additionally, al-Quds said that 11 Palestinians were injured from Israeli airstrikes along Gaza’s eastern frontier.
Al-Ayyam said 14 Palestinians were injured and highlighted violent confrontations between Palestinian protestors and Israeli forces during the nighttime protests.
Also regarding Gaza, al-Ayyam said that Israeli military is preparing for the million-man march, which will be held in commemorate first annual anniversary of the Great March of Return protests, this coming Saturday.
Al-Quds added in this regard that the Palestinian factions were still preparing for the million-man march, dubbed the Land and Return Million-man March, this coming Saturday, and stressed its peaceful nature.
Al-Quds al-Hayat al-Jadida spotlighted an Agence France Press’ report underestimating the achievements of the protests along Gaza’s border with Israel.
The AFP’s report is titled As anniversary looms, Gaza protests bring bloodshed but scarce gains.
Moreover, al-Quds said that Israeli police closed the area surrounding Bab al-Amud in Jerusalem Old City following an alleged car-ramming attack.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida reported that Israeli forces sealed off the main entrance to Azzun town, located to the east of Qalqilia city.

Al-Ayyam reported the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) stating that around 40 children have been killed in protests along Gaza’s frontier with Israel and nearly 3,000 others have been hospitalized.
