A day before his scheduled release, Israel places Palestinian in administrative detention

RAMALLAH, Thursday, March 14, 2019 (WAFA) – The Israeli authorities today issued an administrative detention order for six months against Abdullah Barghouti a day before his scheduled release from prison, according to a statement by the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

It said that Barghouti, 35, from the town of Deir Ghassaneh, near Ramallah, completed his four-month prison sentence but a day prior to his scheduled release, he was slammed with an administrative detention order.

Barghouti, who is held at Ofer prison near Ramallah, had previously spent 10 years in Israeli jails for resisting the occupation and was released in 2016 before he was detained again in November of last year and sentenced to four months.
